Tailgate rattle

Volvo wagons are notorious for developing a rattle in the cargo area.  In most cases, the tailgate trim panel has come loose, and the rattle is the upper part of the panel tapping against the metal of the tailgate.  Since the panel is a large expanse of  plastic, it resonates at a lower frequency that what is expected for a 'rattle'.  It's more like a clunking sound.  This collection of pages documents my project to repair the rattle.  This car is a 1995 965.

1) Removal of the latch frame
2) Removal of the lower fasteners

3) Removal of the trim panel

4) Installation of reinforcement plates
5) Other things to do whilst the panel is removed.
