The ministry of information, with something nice in
the corner. |

A local policeman supplementing his income. The
Russians are afraid of their police. Any interaction with
them invariably turns into an unhappy experience. We had a
discussion about the introduction of jury trials in Russia. A
man was accused of shooting and killing a police officer.
Apparently he even admitted to the fact. Acquitted by the
jury. They felt that killing a cop was perfectly justified. |

A banner for the then-upcoming celebrations of the
city's anniversary. The events were cancelled due to the subway
bombers, and the Chechen school hostage situation |

I think this was the ministry of exterior affairs.
The architecture caught my eye as a type of ornamented brutalism. |

The top of the
Moscow State University building. Like the Ministry of
External affairs, this was a very very big building. I guess the
entire university is contained within the building. Apparently
there is a lot of prestige in being at Moscow University. Very
heavy on Maths and Engineering. They even have a graduate school
of business. |
