Very important that the motor be returned to its normal position and the pin set in place on the porkchop.    I wrap the hoses in hockey tape.  Any tape will do. I have lots of this around, and since it's white, the markings are easy to see.    Time to mark the hoses for cutting.   REMEMBER, the end of the hose is where the red touches the blue, not at the end of the red collar.  This photo is from an early test-fit.  The final installation has different (angled) fittings on the filter.  But you get the idea.  Same thing here, only I wrapped with duct tape.
