Several views of the filter mount, adaptor, and hoses as installed.

From underneath, looking forward.  I'm holding the camera where the air conditioner ducts normally are.  Like I said, I think this job is only feasible if most of the items are out of the car.  The reddish-brown at the top is the engine compartment crossmember.  The silver thing at the left, and partially obscuring the view of the blue & red fitting is the transmission selector lever.

Test fits on the hose routing:
under the dogbone.  This is a routing that I tried and then decided was not good.

Testing various locations for the filter.   It is VERY IMPORTANT that you put a filter on the remote mount and poke around a bit for a location.  Don't just eyeball it.    Also, once you've found a possible location, unscrew the filter and make sure you can replace it easily.  Check that there is no interference from other items, including things that are not there, like the hood.

Where I marked the wheelwell for the holes:
After drilling, I gave the holes a good dousing from both sides with a rust-preventative paint.
