Moscow was proposing for the 2012
Olympics. The big-eared bear is the mascot. Russian bear
rendered innocuous through reproportioning. The best way to make
something "cute" is to enlarge the head to where it approaches the
size of the body, similar to the body-head proportions of an infant.
In this case, the head is larger than the rodent's body. It all
started with Mickey Mouse. The first Mickey was mischievous,
with a small head, pointed ears and spindly limbs. The current
Mickey is all head, with ears approaching the size of the cranium.
