Within the central air handler there are two circular barriers between the evaporator and the center vents.  The ostensible purpose of these barriers is to direct air to the two sideboard vents.  I think they simply impede flow.

First view, showing the location in the dashboard.  I removed the center vent & control assembly for access to the Behr air handler.

 

 Dans la boite Behr centrale il y a deux barrières circulaires entre l'évaporateur et les aérateurs.  A priori elles sont là pour dévier de l'air vers les aérateurs passagers a cote.  Personnellement, je crois qu'elles créent un embouteillage.

After I removed just the left/driver's side barrier. Be careful NOT to cut out the structural part of the barrier; it supports the axis for the defroster flap. Après enlevage de la barrière a gauche. Soyez prudent avec la scie, car le support pour la porte de dégivrage fait partie des barrières.
