alternate location of brake accumulator.  As I mentioned in another page, I was not happy with the factory location of the brake accumulator.  The Australian versions of the CX had a seventh sphere, to provide additional support to the braking system.   Unlike the primary accumulator, this one has just two connections, HP in and HP out. Here are the photos

The sphere is mounted on its own bracket, on the port side wheelarch.

After much fussing and fiddling, I decided to mount the primary accumulator sphere atop this bracket.

The first problem was anchoring the sphere.  The base for the additional brake sphere was drilled with four holes for M7 bolts, which can be seen in the photo above.  The primary brake sphere base had no holes and I did not want to go & drill through it.  The OEM installation had the sphere cradled in a frame, with one hose clamp to anchor it.  I found some pipe hangers, designed to hold 4" sewer line, encased in vinyl.

The holes in the hangers were a good fit for the M7 bolts.
I bent the hanger around
to where the circular part would would wrap the sphere.

Is this the best solution?  I don't know.   I'm not sure the pipe hangers are the most secure anchor.  I think I would like to weld the primary accumulator base to some steel and bolt the steel to the factory bracket.   Anyway, a work in progress as of November 2004.
